Clinical Support Services (formerly the Child Guidance Clinic) is a department of the Winnipeg School Division and provides clinical support to the WSD schools. We were founded in 1951. We work together with school teachers, principals and parents to provide specialized help for school children.
The work of Clinical Support Services usually takes place in schools. Services are free of charge to children and their families. Students who attend independent schools may use our services if these schools have negotiated clinical services with the Winnipeg School Division.
The school clinical teams from Clinical Support Services can be made up of any or all of the following:
- Reading Clinicians
- Speech-Language Pathologists
- School Psychologists
- Social Workers
Clinical Support Services employs approximately 150 staff members. Clinicians have been highly trained in their professions. Each year services are provided to more than 13% of all the children in the schools we serve.
Clinical Support Services provides a wide range of special services to help meet the educational, social, emotional, communication and behaviorial needs of children in a coordinated manner.
