To honour our community, Argyle staff are weaving a river through our school’s fence.

The weaving moves around Argyle like the Red River does, as we value this important aspect of our community and city. Not only does the weaving beautify the community, it ties the fence together and unites our students and staff.

The weaving is comprised of discarded clothing, which we’ve dyed blue. We are creatively reusing materials to help with environmental sustainability.

The weaving is visible to pedestrians who walk by Argyle, connecting the school to the surrounding community. People have even stopped to say ‘Hello’ as we weave.

While Argyle students haven’t had the opportunity to help us weave, we have had them near us at a distance, as well as in our hearts and minds. This art action has been a bonding experience for Argyle staff, students and the greater school community.

To respect the 215 Indigenous children who were found buried at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C., we are tying orange ribbons onto the river weaving.

The weaving will continue to grow. All are welcome to come and view it.
