ICSL Jamboree a smash success

Close to 1,100 students and 49 teams enjoyed the thrill of athleticism and teamwork at the 10th annual Inner City Soccer League Jamboree.

The tournament, which ran Feb. 9 and 10 at the Winnipeg Soccer Federation’s North Soccer Complex, was a smash success thanks to the collaboration of many community partners.

Among the many partners who made the event possible were Peter White, Scott Penman, the Laura Milner White Committee, The Winnipeg Foundation, Manitoba Soccer Association, Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association, Culligan Water, Polar Bear Rubber, John Hall, constables from the Winnipeg Police Service, Winnipeg Soccer Federation, Winnipeg School Division Transportation, dedicated WSD staff/coaches, superintendents and directors and last but certainly not least the student athletes of The Winnipeg School Division that participated and truly made this a jamboree a tremendous success.

The event earned many glowing reviews from students, staff and administrators such as Elmwood High School Principal Mike Babb.

"Elmwood had 6 teams involved today, so 70+ students that were proud to represent our school," Mr. Babb said. "The transportation being supplied is a key factor in helping to make the Jamboree and the league so successful."
