Medical Office Clerk

The Medical Office Clerk program prepares students to provide administrative support to health care professionals in medical offices, hospitals, clinics and health care facilities. Students learn medical terminology, maintain patient records, billing procedures and develop skills in software that are used in an office setting.


MEDICAL OFFICE CLERK I 40S | SEBR4S – 1 CREDIT

This introductory course is designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills required to function as part of a health care team.  It is aimed at preparing students to work in a medical office or health care facility.  Learn the roles and responsibilities of a Medical Office Clerk, including computer skills with use of Excel and Access, medical terminology, maintaining patient records, billing procedures and keying medical reports.  

Note:   Good keyboarding skills necessary. It is recommended to take Advanced Keyboarding/Print Communications 2S


MEDICAL OFFICE CLERK II 40S| AOAR4S – 1 CREDIT

This is a full-credit course designed for students who are pursuing work in a medical setting.  In addition to a computer skills review, enhanced electronic communications and information management, this course will include transcription of documents, which include in depth medical terminology for the 10 body systems.  A 25-hour office practicum is available for most students for work experience. Pre-requisite:  Medical Office Clerk – Level 1 ​
