School Messenger and SafeArrival

July 20, 2022

Below is a letter that was sent home to parents on Thursday, January 30, 2020.

Dear Families,

At Fort Rouge School, making sure all our students are safe at school every day is very important to us. We need to check that students who left their homes to come to school, arrive at school safely.

We are introducing a new system, called School Messenger, this online system will:
-    Help us to communicate with you more often by sending out emails and phone calls with important information such as upcoming events and information about bussing.
-    Make is easier to keep track of our students using the area called SafeArrival. This new system will be easier for you to report if your child will be away from school and will save time to check and make sure all students are at safely school.

With SafeArrival, we ask you to let the school know that your child will be away in one of the following ways:
1.    Call the toll-free number 1-855-278-4513 to report an absence.
2.    Go online to the website, The first time you use the website, go to Sign Up to create an account, select Attendance, then Report an Absence
3.    Use your mobile device (cellphone or tablet), download and install the School Messenger app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The first time you use the app, go to Sign Up to create an account, select Attendance, then Report an Absence

This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, you can let the school know that, sometime in the future, your child will be away for an appointment.

We will start using this system on Monday, February 3, 2020. At the school, if we do not receive a notification that you know your child is not coming to the school, we will begin using the SafeArrival system to let you know, instead of calling you.

This system only works if we have your most current contact information – home phone, cell phone and email address. Please make sure to let us know if any changes have been made.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at or call the school and talk to Lindsay or myself.
