WSD 150 Celebrations - DonationsJune 7, 2021 Division Activity, School Activity
We have a story to tell.
Winnipeg School Division celebrates 150 years in 2021. In 1871, 35 students attended the first public schoolhouse at the home of William Gomez da Fonseca on 39 Maple Street. Since that time, over 104 schools have opened their doors to students and the community. Student projects have been planned to research, discover, celebrate and share the history of schools in Winnipeg School Division.
The WSD 150 motto is to celebrate through learning, history and storytelling. Curricular areas of study include Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Indigenous Education, The Arts and Physical Education.
The most prominent project is the publication of a WSD 150 commemorative book highlighting our rich history. We welcome alumni to help us celebrate by sending in a video clip wishing WSD a happy birthday. Other projects include the design and creation of banners, video productions and school based learning experiences such as artists in the schools.
Any donations received will go towards these projects.
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $10 and greater.
