Grant Park High School

Rights Here, Rights Now (Reconciliation and Human Rights Conference)
The project will assist students with the organization of a conference connecting human rights and the mandate of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The conference will be offered to the entire school and community as a learning and socio-cultural awareness opportunity. In addition to reconciliation, the conference confronts other current social justice matters. Students will attend various venues at the Children's Festival. The project will allow students to attend and engage, and experience the arts through dance, drama, storytelling and music. Students will be exposed to a variety of cultural activities. Funding is Student  Registration/Admissions.

The project provides relevant and meaningful programming to students. Camp experience provides students an opportunity to develop confidence, self-esteem, build awareness and an understanding of outdoor summer recreation. Isaac Newton School

Indigenous Cultural Camp - Nutimik Lake

Camping provides a connection with student learning and hands-on experiences and activities, specifically in the area of Indigenous studies and multiculturalism. Students will explore Lake Nutimik, Bannock Point, Blueberry Hill. Interpreters guide the students through the historic sites, teaching history of the Indigenous peoples, learning of native plants and animals. Isaac Brock School

Land-Based Living Equipment
The project funding allows the school to develop a library of items, for students and families, to experience Land-Based Learning. The Equipment Library project aims to acquire various outdoor living equipment and supplies to be utilized over multiple excursions by both student and family. The availability of the equipment dramatically decreases the cost of excursions, allowing for access to free accommodations rather than resident facilities. The project will enhance the piloted Land-Based Learning Course in grade 7 and 8, a student-centered activity focused program designed to enhance the participant's learning ability, cultural and environmental awareness, selfconfidence, and self-discipline. Student learning in the course includes utilizing the outdoors as a classroom, respecting the environment, the value of Indigenous perspectives and incorporate skills to live an active and healthy lifestyle. The Land-Based Learning course is focused on grades 7 and 8 students. The Land-based equipment can be available to other students and families. Funding is Supplies not available in school.

The project will provide students an opportunity to learn new skills in an outdoor environment. Camp promotes teamwork and collaboration, and introduces many new activities to students. RB Russell Vocational High School

Land-Based Learning Mobile Field Study Lab. An Initiative by RB Russelll Sustainability Circle
Land-Based Learning provides students an enhanced experiential learning experience outside the classroom. The funding will support the development of Field Research Kits, which will equip students to take their Science, Geography, and Social Studies programming outside the school walls. The project supports and broadens ESD initiatives and opportunities, and further strengthens the school's connection and partnerships with Indigenous community members. The project will also expand and deepen student learning and involvement in the Careers that Fight Climate Change Network. Funding is Supplies not available in school.

Playground Field Improvement

Machray School

Machray's Outdoor Learning Centre
Machray's new outdoor learning space will be a green space that will be constructively used for nature-based education. The project will connect today's urban focused students and families to the serenity, beauty and knowledge of nature with an Indigenous perspective. Through active play and socialization, the students will connect the curriculum to the interactive living classroom for students, families and the community. A medicine wheel will be the centre focus of the outdoor learning centre that will include native plants, natural seating areas, and will include other sustainable projects and initiatives. Funding is Play structure/Ground/Field Improvement.

Adolescent Parent Centre

The Mother's Project, A Career Trek Program for Adolescent Parents
The program focuses on career explorations and planning, as well as personal development and goalsetting. The project will introduce grade 11 and 12 at-risk parenting teens to post-secondary education. Students involved in the project have the opportunity to experience various facilities/courses/careers, so that they can make informed decisions regarding future career paths. Funding is Fee for Service/Performances.
