Brock Corydon School

Grade 4 to 6 Musical

This project will support Literacy through the Arts. Students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 are cast in the musical production and will work collaboratively by performing, building sets, developing costume and make-up skills, and taking a leadership role in the ticket sales. The musical will be presented in four performances in the Spring. The Crucible
This project will provide students the opportunity to work collaboratively in every facet of the theatre process. Students will develop acting skills, set making, design period costumes, sound and lighting. Students will develop character outlines to create the cast, and will also have an opportunity to work alongside a professional technician on sound and lighting. The play will be performed at the Forrest Whittaker Theatre on May 5th and 7th. Funding is Fee for Service/Performances, Equipment Rental, Costume supplies.

Students who wish to participate in this project will learn how to use software to design and incorporate cultural design, that will encourage improvements to the visual aspects of student assisgnments. Shakespeare in the Snow
The objective of this project is to immerse student learning in literacy, academic and arts enrichment, and exam preparation. The activity will provide students enrolled in the IB programme with a stimulating, social and intellectual environment. Students will be transported to the retreat near Lac du Bonnet where they will stay under the supervision and tutelage of their teacher, and will study a Shakespeare play in its entirety, becoming fully immersed in literature over the entire trip. After intensive study, students will enact an abridged version of the play. Funding is Camp accommodations/rental/fees.
