Who can apply?

  • Undergraduates and high school seniors currently enrolled or enrolling in accredited universities
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be a legal resident of Canada or the United States or a holder of a valid student visa

What will I have to do?

  • Write an essay with a minimum of 300 words on one of the following topics:
    • The prevalence of incontinence in adults
    • The creation of disposable gloves and their impact on hygiene
    • The importance of sanitization and disinfection in the workplace

Award Amount: $10,000

What will I have to do?

  • Write an essay with a maximum of 2000 words discussing the link between democracy and the media in Canada

The Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children

Deadline: January 9, 2024

Award Amount: Four Scholarships each worth $750

Who can apply?

  • Two scholarships are available for grade 12 or returning university students from Manitoba who are pursuing a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities. The individuals must be entering or in a current full-time education program in a Canadian post-secondary institution
  • The other two scholarships are for students with exceptional needs who are transitioning from high school to post-school life, such as post-secondary education, job training or employment. The winning students must demonstrate a ‘Yes I Can’ attitude. The scholarship money is given directly to the student upon verification of enrollment (if pursuing post-secondary education) or other appropriate evidence of their post-school plan

Preszler Law Firm Car Accident Scholarship

Deadline: January 15, 2024

Award Amount: $2,500

Who can apply?

  • A high school student who was the victim of a car accident and who has a goal to pursue a university degree

What will I have to do?

  • Applicants are required to submit an official high school transcript
  • Compose a 500-1000-word essay on how you were injured in a car accident and what you are doing to overcome it

Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada Scholarships

Deadline: January 24, 2024

Award Amount: Awards ranging from $2,500-$5,000

Who can apply?

  • A permanent ward, or someone who has been a permanent ward of a Child Welfare Agency for at least one year, or are/were eligible for a provincial or territorial extended care program, such as Continued Care and Support for Youth (CCSY) or Voluntary Youth Services Agreement (VYSA)
  • Be 18 years or under 30 when starting or continuing in your program
  • Are planning to attend a program at a post-secondary institution either full-time or on a reduced schedule due to an accommodation, for a full academic year starting in September 2023 or January 2024

What will I have to do? 

  • Submit the online scholarship application
  • Provide your latest academic transcript
  • Provide an online Child protection worker reference (if this is your first application or if you have not been granted a Foundation scholarship or bursary in the past)

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Deadlines: The High School Submits Nominee: January 30, 2024
**NOTE: The Nominee Submits Application: February 20, 2024 **

Award Amount: $100,000 for students pursuing engineering, $80,000 for students pursuing science, technology or math

Who can apply?

  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, attending a Canadian high school
  • Must possess at least two of the three following attributes: outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership, and academic excellence
  • Must have financial need (planning to apply for financial assistance for undergraduate study at university) 
  • Must be enrolling in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) faculty at a minimum of one of 20 select Canadian universities participating in Schulich Leader Scholarships

What will I have to do?

  • Students must submit their own application after being nominated by their school. The online application includes:
    • Contact information for two references who will upload reference letters
    • A list of the universities you wish to attend
    • Your top three achievements, academic or otherwise, with 50-words per achievement
    • 600-word minimum essay detailing why you should win
    • Optional 250-word essay outlining any extenuating circumstances/barriers to your education
    • 50-word short answer to identify where you see yourself in 10 years
    • Copy of up to date transcript
    • Headshot profile image for publicity

Union Plus Scholarship Program

Deadline: January 31, 2024

Award Amount: $500-$4,000

Who can apply?

  • Current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations).  Grandchildren are not eligible unless a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations).  At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent)
    • The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31st of the year that you apply. (Includes members of participating unions from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.)
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended. This is a competitive scholarship, and applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor
  • The applicant must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college or university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued. Awards must be used for the next school year

  • Provide one letter of reference
  • Write two essays, each 350 words, find topics on their website

EnergyRates.ca College Scholarship

Deadline: January 31, 2024

Award Amount: $500

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a Canadian or American post-secondary educational institution, or planning to enroll in such an institution within the following calendar year

What will I have to do?

  • Complete online submission form
  • Complete an essay of no more than 500 words, in English or French, on any topic you choose, so long as it is about energy in the world of tomorrow.
