Sports Scholarships

If you are interested in joining a sports team at a particular post-secondary institution, it is best to contact the coach at the institute of your choice directly for details and to learn about scholarship opportunities available.

If you are currently involved in a sport, contact the organization to which you belong to learn more about available scholarships.

If you have participated in sports throughout high school, look for scholarships that place emphasis on leadership, community involvement, or other skills/characteristics you have developed through sport.

Many organizations in Manitoba offer scholarships to student athletes. These include:

Sport Manitoba:

Sport Manitoba offers scholarship programs to student athletes in Manitoba to assist them in their academics while pursuing their participation in sport.

Coaching Manitoba:

Coaching Manitoba annually presents bursaries to four students who have demonstrated a commitment to coaching in Manitoba.

Hockey Manitoba:

Manitoba High School Athletic Association Awards:

The MHSAA offers a variety of awards annually, for students who are part of a high school sports team. (Categories for hockey, volleyball, basketball, and general athletics). To see the current scholarships and opportunities available, visit the MHSAA website.

Softball Manitoba:

Multiple bursaries available for students who are also registered players with Softball Manitoba. To view available bursaries please visit the website.

Manitoba Ringette Association:

The Manitoba Ringette Association provides annual scholarships to graduating high school students who are involved in ringette. Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association:

Annual scholarships for students who have played, coached, convened, or refereed basketball for the WMBA. For more information visit the website.
