Concours d’art Oratoire, Canada’s French Public Speaking Competition

The WSD Concours d’art oratoire 2020

Concours d’art oratoire is an annual French speaking competition for French second-language and first-language students that promotes rich French language learning.

The competition is facilitated by Canadian Parents for French (CPF) and each year, the Concours happens at the school, divisional, provincial and national levels.The Concours d’art oratoire is open to students from Grade 3 to 12 and includes the categories of Early Immersion, Late Immersion, French: Communication and Culture (Core/Basic), French: Communication and Culture (Extended/Enriched/Advanced), Français and Impromptu.

This year, the WSD divisional competition for Grades 3 to 8 Early Immersion, Grade 4 to 8 Late Immersion and Grade 4 to 8 French Communication & Culture will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at École Stanley Knowles School, 2424 King Edward Street. The Grades 9 to 12 Immersion and Grades 9 to 12 French: Communication & Culture; Grades 11 to 12 Immersion and Grades 11 to 12 French: Communication & Culture competition will be on Wednesday, April 8 from 1:15 pm to 3:30pm at École Secondaire Kelvin High School, Second Floor Theatre, 155 Kingsway.

The winners of the divisional competition will move on to The Manitoba provincial Concours d’art oratoire which will be held at l’Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) on May 2, 2020.

Division Competition for Grade 9 to 10 Immersion and Grade 9 to 10 French: Communication and Culture; Grade 11 to 12 Immersion and Grade 11 to 12 French: Communication and Culture
Location: École Secondaire Kelvin High School, Second Floor Theatre, 155 Kingsway
 
May 2, 2020 – Provincial finals for all categories at the Universite de Saint-Boniface
 
June 2020 – National Competition in Ottawa, ON.
