Volunteer Opportunities

Travel Volunteer Opportunities for GAP YEAR after high school:
 
FREE AND LOW LOW LOW COST PROGRAMS.  THESE ARE EXCELLENT WAYS TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE THE WORLD FOR CHEAP!!!!  THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS, GET EXPERIENCE AND PERSPECTIVE DURING THAT YEAR OFF  BETWEEN HIGH SCHOOL AND POST SECONDARY EDUCATION.
 
*NOTE: These programs are open to everyone.  You don't have to have plan on going to post secondary in order to participate.*
 
Katimavik - intensive 6-9 month volunteer program spent in 3 regions of Canada living with other youth volunteering with community.  FREE program www.katimavik.org
 
Canada World Youth - various volunteer programs both in Canada and over seas. You spend 3 months living/volunteering somewhere in Canada, and 3 months abroad (such as Africa).  This is mostly a FREE program - all you have to do is fundraise money to cover the big costs!!!!  www.canadaworldyouth.org

Siloam Mission is always looking for volunteers.  Email volunteer services at volunteer @ siloam.ca or call 956-4344.   Check out their website for a more detailed list of volunteer needs.
 
Winnipeg Harvest is also in need of volunteers.  Contact Gary at 982-3587 or by email gary @ winnipegharvest.org.  Visit their website by clicking here.
 
Winnipeg School Division offers great after school programs for kids.  Contact Carmen Court at 474-1513 or see the Career Intern for a list of opportunities.
 
Keep your eyes open for volunteer positions within the school such as time keeping for sporting events.
 
Also check out your nearest community centers, hospitals, personal care homes, soup kitchens  or anywhere else you think might be a neat place to work.
