Honour Choir

Each Wednesday through April and May, eight of our Clifton students attended Honour Choir rehearsals at Laura Secord School. They learned to sing “Sing with Pleasure” from “Saul” arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen,”Castle on A Cloud arranged by Linda Spevacek, and “How Can I Keep from Singing? arranged by Mary Donnelly and George L.O. Strid for Central District Honour Choir. They also sang “Child’s Play by Louis Calabro, “Skye Boat Song” arranged by Judith Herrington and Sara Glick, and “The Lobster Quadrille” from “Join The Dance” by Carolyn Jennings with three other divisional choirs. The concert was held at Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church on Thursday, May 16.  Mr. Larry Weckerth conducted the Central Honour Choir and Pat Claeys was the accompanist. Andrea Wicha was the guest conductor for the Winnipeg School Division Mass Choir. Students also took the show on tour on May 22nd, singing for Principal Sparling School and Victoria Albert School. This concert and tour has particular significance because the Central Choir's conductor, Larry Weckwerth, who has taught at Laura Secord School for many years, is retiring this June. Congratulations on your singing success, Mr. Weckwerth and Clifton kids!
