Music Festival 2015
On Tuesday, March 17th, five Clifton Handbell groups
performed in the Winnipeg Music Festival. Students played very complicated
pieces and used a variety of techniques, changing time and key signatures. They
used mallets and transitioned from handbells to tone chimes. Thank you to the substitutes
for stepping in and to Mrs. Bodner for preparing the performers and conducting
It was beneficial for our students to have the experience of a formal
competitive performance to develop a respect for their own and others’
abilities. They had the opportunity to see and hear others perform and enjoyed the
variety of pieces that they heard. It was
helpful to their development as musicians to receive feedback from an adjudicator.
We are very proud of our young players. They amaze us for being able to read music at
the level they do, ring independently when they are supposed to and work as a
team to play pieces that challenge them.
