Ringing Link participants rose in a standing ovation for the handbell
choir from Clifton that was formed especially for this event. On Friday, July
4th, The Clifton Kids played Moonlight
Sonata and then Phantom of the Opera in
black light while wearing white masks and gloves. The 7th Handbell
Guilds of Canada National Ringing Link Conference,
held at the Victoria Inn from July 2-5th, had participants from British
Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, the United States and Manitoba.
Participants enjoyed mini-concerts, like the one by the Clifton choir,
workshops, rehearsals and massed ringing that culminated in a final concert
held on July 5th. Many thanks to the students for taking time out of their
summer vacation to play for the attendees, especially our alumni member,
Gerard, who agreed he would play as long as he got to play his old bells!
Here is a preview of the students' performance.
