Collège Churchill is a grade 7 to 12 French milieu school. Though it is a 6 year school, it is structured in such a way as to provide a different program approach for each of the two age groups - middle years and senior high. Our « middle years » approach attempts to meet the differing needs of each grade level and ease the transition from elementary to secondary school. For example, students still have a homeroom, where they are taught by and are responsible to a homeroom teacher. There are also a number of occasions where groups of students are grouped or teamed, giving them the opportunity to work with a wider variety of students and teachers, much as would be the case in high school.
We are committed to ensuring that Collège Churchill is a safe place in which all students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their maximum learning potential while developing a strong sense of community and social consciousness. As we move toward a more global economy, linguistic, technological and communication skills are becoming increasingly important. We are proud to be the flagship Immersion milieu center of the Division. The success of our graduates attests to our strong academic tradition within a caring atmosphere.
Collège Churchill is a school where students are encouraged to be themselves and to develop their unique potential to the fullest. Academic standards are strongly emphasized, with opportunities available to develop all areas of intelligence. We have strong music, science and sports programs, as well as many artistic and athletic opportunities. With flexible programming, we are able to meet the diverse needs of our students who participate in the arts, sports, cultural opportunities and other areas at provincial and national levels.
Our students exhibit a strong sense of citizenship, belonging and school spirit. Our Leadership program gives students an opportunity to excel in organizational skills and communication. Our staff is highly talented, flexible and very caring. Our parent community is supportive and involved in educational issues.
Given our central location, we have a diverse, multicultural population with a broad range of experiences, lifestyles and beliefs. As we are a small school located within a larger school complex, our students are able to take advantage of the small school atmosphere with large school opportunities. They have access to all of the programming offered within the larger complex, provided the 75% French Immersion programming requirement is met.
