Is truth just relative? Do I have free will? Is there a difference
between animals and humans? What is justice, anyway? Those are some of
the questions discussed last year at Philosophy Cafe, a place where
students relax in the staff room with friends, pursuing
life's most important questions with a philosopher guide. (Fuelled by
Fair Trade beverages and snacks)
Usually once or twice a month, respected thinkers in their field take
time to lead students on an intellectual adventure, often hilarious and
always deathly serious. Past speakers include University of Winnipeg
philosophy department heads Brian Keenan and Jack
Zupko, UofM graduate student Nick Tanchuk, and St. John's great books
program graduate and organic farmer, Mark Ingham.
