School Goals

As we continue to work on strengthening instruction and assessment in both Literacy and Numeracy in our school, the focus this year will be on specific skills in writing strategies and conventions and the reading and wriiting connection. This will include the use of technology in all curricular areas.

We are also committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle for our students. This will include the encouragement of an active physical lifestyle, social/emotional skills, respect of self and others, nutrition, and wellness. We appreciate your support at home in encouraging your children to learn and live healthy and active life skills.

The 2015-2016 year school goals will focus on the following:

1. Literacy:

  • Teachers will continue with the Professional Learning Communities of the 5 community cluster schools to help choose, shape and create tasks and use questions to help students make powerful connections

  • Improvement in student achievement through ongoing reflection and response to student learning and interventions as reviewed by the team including administration, Resource/SERT, and CSS.

2. Deepen the awareness and understanding of the Aboriginal perspective, cultural and historical significance and the connection to Sustainability

  • Monthly school wide themes connecting ESD and Aboriginal perspectives will be integrated into the subject areas.

  • "Culture Day" will celebrate the diverse population and allow us to compare similarities and celebrate the differences among us.

3. Meeting the needs of  the diverse learners

  • "Response to Intervention" – strengthen our support service delivery model to respond quickly and efficiently to students who require intervention support beyond the regular differentiation in instruction.
