Harrow Resource Support Program
The resource program at Harrow School follows a collaborative model where students who require learning intervention are identified by the classroom teachers and supports are put in place to address their individual academic needs. We are able to offer many different programs to help our students be successful. This past school year we purchased a new educational kit by Fountas and Pinnell called Leveled Literacy Intervention which has been helpful to many of our struggling readers. The parents have been very supportive of the program that includes take home books and activities to promote interactive learning.
We also introduced RAZ reading this year which is an online reading intervention that allows the students to read stories and information books on the computer at school and at home. The program is closely monitored by a support teacher at the school.
At Harrow, we are lucky to have many newcomers to Canada attending our school so the resource program is able to offer support to our English language learners through small group activities and daily home reading practice.
Our wonderful parent and community volunteers are an integral part of Harrow school and this program is also run out of the resource room. We value the time that our volunteers offer to read individually with our students, work on small group activities or large class special events.
