Asia Pacific Studies Role Play Conference
Pacific Studies program held its annual Role Play Examination in March. This
marks the 21st year that grade 10 through 12 students enrolled in the
Intermediate and Senior Asia Pacific Studies program took part in the United
Nations style debates. Six resolutions were examined and adopted (or rejected)
over the course of the day, ranging from the war in Syria to human trafficking.
Students portrayed 18 countries and two non-governmental organizations. Debates
were punctuated by lobbying sessions, press conferences and citations awarded
to « most authentic attire » and use of irony among others. All Kelvin students
are eligible to enroll in an Asia Pacific credit course -- the only program of
its kind in Manitoba high schools. Intermediate and Senior levels of the course
are taught weekly from September to June. You learn more about Kelvin’s Asia
Pacific program at kelvinsokalski.wikispaces.com Contact Sokalski Sensei at
