Thank-you for visiting Lord Nelson School's website! Our "One Big Family" is made up of approximately 400 eager, respectful learners and 46 staff members. Our school services students from Nursery to Grade 6.
We are dedicated to ensuring success for all learners through differentiated instruction and inclusion. Students master key concepts for all disciplines and learn at their own rate. We have a strong technology component in our school and staff are working hard at using technology in their everyday teaching. A school-wide anti-bullying program and PBIS training are implemented in all classrooms and common areas, along with virtue teaching that focus on respect, empathy, self-control and conscience. The Seven Teachings of the Sacred Poeple are also a monthly focus where students will learn about courage, humility, honesty, respect, love, truth and wisdom. Together we work hard at creating an environment that fosters respect and responsibility, self-growth and lifelong learning.
We have a wonderful group of parents who make up our Parent Association. They work hand-in-hand with our school staff too create a learning and caring partnership. We have a Parent Center that serves as a way to connect our valuable family members to our school. It runs many programs that support early literacy and numeracy, helps new Canadian families access resources, provides knowledge and experience for parents, empowers girls through various activities or initatives. We always welcome our families into the school and encourage participation in the life of our school.
We look forward to working with the staff, students and families of the Lord Nelson community. We encourage you to call if you have a question, comment or concern or stop in to visit and get to know us. We look forward to meeting with you. Please explore our website and learn more about our wonderful school and our "One Big Family".
Mrs. S. Stevenson
I am so excited to be working with the staff, students and community of Lord Nelson School! It is a constant pleasure working with all members of our "One Big Family" to ensure the best possible educational experience for each one of our students.
I have been with the Winnipeg School Division for 14 years and have had the opportunity to work in several different schools across the division during this time. I enjoy meeting different people, and continue to be a lifelong learner.
I feel very fortunate to be at Lord Nelson School as we offer so many different programs and opportunities for our students to learn and grow. From drumming to dance, speed skating and yoga, to our Education for Sustainable Development initiatives, students continue to experience a variety of opportunities to work with others and learn new skills. We have an amazing staff who consistently utilize best practices for their students' learning. Every day here is a special day. Every morning I am greeted by many smiling faces that are ready to learn and have fun!
We have a Parent Center where everyone is welcome! Come out and meet our exceptional Community Support Worker, Ms. Storer and check out the many programs that are offered for parents and the community at large.
Please do not hesitate to come by the office with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year! I look forward to getting to know every member of our "One Big Family!"
