Machray school runs music programming for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Students work toward performances including a winter concert in December, choral performances at the Millennium Library as part of the Sounds of the Season Concert Series and a celebration of learning at Jelly Bean Field Day in June.

In the classroom lessons focus on not just the development of musical literacy but also the development of general literacy. Students take part in a variety of activities that include cross curricular links in mathematics, reading, writing, social studies and science.

Classes focus on students taking part in movement activities and games that focus on musical literacy and performance skills. Students also take part in instrumental based activities. Students in kindergarten to grade 3 play instruments such as bells, boomwhackers, non pitched percussion instruments and xylophones. Students in grade 4-6 play bells, recorders, non pitched percussion and xylophones. All kindergarten to grade 6 students get to take part in lessons on Djembe's for two weeks per year.
