Room 312 students were very excited creating beautiful God‘s eyes and headdresses on Cultural day.
A God’s eye is a yarn weaving and a spiritual object. Traditionally they have been created for celebration or blessing, presented as a gift or designed to bless a home. The God’s eye is symbolic of the power of seeing and understanding that which we cannot see with our physical eyes.
The North American headdress has deep spiritual significance. The feather headdress had to be earned which could only be done by going into battles. Every feather in the headdress was a symbolic reflection of the deeds that the warrior engaged in. The bonnet was a symbol of high respect. Each chief of a tribe was given a special headdress. Each feather represented the contributions he had made for his community.
