Room 11 Grade 1/2

In Science we are learning about the characteristics of materials and why certain materials are better than others to make some objects. We are also learning about the properties of solids, liquids and gases. What is the best material to use to make rain boots? What objects float and sink in water? We will soon be able to answer these questions!! As well as learning about the characteristics of objects, we are learning how to measure objects. We have been busy measuring length, width, height, perimeter and area of objects. We used our “hand balance” to discover which objects are heavier than other objects. The hand balance worked better for some than others! Once again, thank you to parents and guardians for continuing to support your child to do homework. Home reading, math homework, and spelling practice are all important for your child’s learning.
