Stand up to Bullies!
River Elm school celebrated Day of Pink on Wednesday, April 8th. It was a day to recognize anti-bullying by wearing pink. Day of Pink started in Nova Scotia in 2007 when a boy was being bullied at school. There are lots of ways that you can be an anti-bully! You could stand up for others. You could ignore the bully. You could tell an adult. The assembly was hosted by some members of River Elm school. They did a great job telling us about Day of Pink. After the assembly, ALL of the students needed to "build-a-buddy". This means that every student had to find someone that they had never talked to before, and ask them a couple of questions about themselves. Everyone put sticky notes with the answers onto a bear buddy where they were proudly displayed at the front of our school. Let's continue to be kind, respectful students all year round!
