February 6th 2013, was
when two Folklorama groups came to River Elm. The first presenter represented
the African pavilion. She taught all of the school how to “clap for yourself”. She
also taught us an African song and picked five kids to learn how to do an
African dance to the song. She gave them some African clothes to dance with.
The second presenters were Ireland
dancers. The Ireland dancers were children and teens. The Ireland performers
were dancing in a jumping tap-dance fashion. The dancers were of ages eight to
fifteen. They danced to several songs.
Thank you to Mrs. Gapka for
organizing the Folklorama presentation. Thank you to Christian Hidalgo-Mazzei
(the director of Folklorama) for bringing performers to River Elm.
