French: Communication and Culture

website17.JPG

Early Start French

Grades 1-3

In Early Start French, students are exposed to French and its language patterns at an early age, discovering and exploring simple language structures required for purposeful communication. Their comprehension increases when linguistic structures, along with an array of visuals, are used and reused in a spontaneous and natural way within the context of a theme. Students are formally assessed on their oral communication skills (listening and speaking) only.

French: Communication and Culture

Grades 4-6

Aims to provide all students in Manitoba with quality French instruction which enables them to communicate in the French language and to appreciate francophone cultures. French is used as the language of instruction; language knowledge and skills are developed through themes and students' active participation in activities and projects based on the interests and life experiences of the students. Cultural activities are infused in order to enrich the students' learning experiences as they begin to grow as global citizens. To learn a language is to learn its culture; the two are intricately woven.
