French: Communication and Culture

The goal is to provide students the opportunity to acquire the necessary language skills to communicate in French, to value the learning of French as a tool for personal, intellectual and social growth.

In the French classroom students will learn French by making personal connections to learning French, so that students are able to go out in the world and communicate in real and meaningful ways.

Some examples of acts of communication for grades 4 to 6 are:

  • introducing themselves
  • describing personal preference, object or a person
  • talking about everyday activities and their immediate surroundings
  • discussing subjects related to their immediate needs
  • asking for information
  • giving instructions
