Every year the grade six students have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities; one of them Green Club. The school year of 2017/2018 will be the school's sixth year of a milk carton recycling program at lunch. Robertson School lunch program produces about 300 milk cartons as waste a day! This was all going into the garbage before our Green Club members decided to begin a recycling program. Students volunteer their time at recess to collect all the recycling for the day to be picked up by the city.
Other responsibilities of the Green Club members are participating in school wide announcements, weekly meetings, school yard clean-ups, and taking care of the school plants. They will be continuing to follow through with a new battery recycling program started this year at the school. Through these activities students become more aware of the effect we have on our environment and take responsibility for caring for our future Earth.
