What's New...

We are now in the month of May, it is amazing how quickly the year is progressing. Unfortuneately it is with great sadness that École Sacré Coeur lost one of our beloved friends, Fátima Dias. After a courageous battle with cancer, Madame Dias passed away at the age of 71.

The passing of Mme. Dias truly touched our entire school as she was not only a wonderful friend, an avid volunteer but also the mother of our tremendous secretary Mme. Maria.

Mme. Dias was born in Pico, Açores and immigrated to Canada in 1966. She enjoyed volunteering at the Portuguese Association, Casa dos Açores and at École Sacré-Coeur. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

We will truly miss her dedication here at Sacré Coeur. Our school thoughts and prayers go to Mme. Maria as well as the entire family.

As May is progressing we are now gearing up for the final push towards the end of the year. This is a reminder that school ends on June 30th, and although many are now tired, we must continue to the end. One more small push before the summer holidays....

Many events will occur in the upcoming weeks. Our grade 7 & 8   soccer have begun working at developing their skills, and will be competing in the Jr High Divisional league throughout May. Our Fit Run runners and grade 7 & 8 track kids, who have been working extremely hard, will be competing at divisional competitions in early June. We would like to wish luck to all the students taking part in these competitions, as they have being working quite diligently in preparation for these big days.

May will also see grades 5 & 6 students competing in an Ultimate Football tournament. The Volunteer tea celebration is also scheduled for May.

Jump Rope for Heart preparation is fully underway. The children have been honing their skills and fitness levels since spring break. More information will be available soon. The fundraiser will be held in May, while the actual jump off is planned for early June.
