In 2007 the Sisler Spartan Football Team celebrated its 50th
anniversary of playing in the Winnipeg High School Football League. During those 50 plus years the Spartans have won the WHSFL championship
nine times with the latest championship season being 2007. The Spartans
have two teams with approximately 100 players competing in the Potter
Division and the Currie Division.
The Winnipeg High School Football League consists of three divisions; AA Division also known at the Potter Division, AA - Vidruk
Division and A – Currie Division. The Potter Division is the “elite”
division with Sisler fielding a very competitive team. The AAA team is
made up of primarily experienced football players in grade 11 or 12.
The A or Currie Division is made up of teams that are new to the
WHSFL or are a developing team made up of young or inexperienced
players. Sisler fields a team in the Currie Division that is made up of
football players who are new to the sport of football or are young and
inexperienced in playing in the WHSFL. The Currie Division team is
primarily made up of grade 9 and 10 players.
