What's Happening In Art...

Congratulations to Grade 8 student Kaylah C., Artist of the Month!

"My inspiration for my mug was spring.  My original plan was to make a garden with a lot of flowers and I decided to simplify the idea and scatter a few flowers around the mug and add a couple of butterflies.  I had a hard time choosing the colours I wanted because I didn't want normal, one coloured flowers.  I wanted to show pops of colour everywhere and I think I accomplished that.  The process of making the mug and glazing took a long time, but it turned out great.  I really enjoyed this project and I hope that in the future I can do another one".

Program Highlights
The goal of the Art Program at École Stanley Knowles School is to meet the outcomes outlined in The Manitoba K-8 Visual Arts Curriculum.

Students will use drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and sculpting to create original art works that have been revised and refined.

Time in the Art Room provides opportunities for exploration, risk-taking, sharing and interpreting ideas in a respectful manner which creates a positive learning experience for everybody.

Art projects are based on art styles from various time periods and cultures.  Students view various art works to gain an appreciation of the art form, techniques used for art creation before they proceed with their own creative learning.
