Fall Into Reading

Fall Into Reading 2015

October 1, 2014

The teachers are displaying the great books that students can win if they are "spied" reading in the classrooms and the halls during the month of October.  Every Friday names will be drawn and the winners will be invited to come and collect their new book to take home and read.

Twenty Terrific Titles

Every Fall the teachers get together and decide on twenty terrific titles that classrooms will be reading together during Fall into Reading in October.  Here the students are seeing what great titles they can read. Every morning, on the daily announcements, classrooms are asked a bingo question.  The lucky winners will receive a whole collection of terrific titles to keep in their classroom!

Teacher Guest Reader Day

Teachers went to different classrooms to read their favourite books to students. Here Mr. Delgado, one of our grade 4 teacers, went to the grade 1 classroom to read to them.

This is Mme. Benson, grade 1 french immersion teacher, reading to a group of grade 4 students.

Guest Reader Day

Today we had students from various University of Manitoba sports teams come and read with our students.  A huge thank you to them all.  They did an amazing job reading and connecting with students all about books.

At École Victoria-Albert School we strive to celebrate the wonderful reading and writing taking place everyday in our school.  Students and staff and our school work hard throughout the year to teach reading, learn how to read and most importantly how to love reading.  This year we will also be launching our home reading program as a way to encourage a love for books and reading in school and at home as well.
This year we have created a list of twenty terrific titles for you to read together.  Borrow these titles from our school library or head to the public library to check them out!
