Medical Office Clerk Program
The Medical Office Clerk Program prepares students to provide administrative support to health care professionals in medical offices, hospitals, clinics and health care facilities. Students learn medical terminology, maintain patient records, billing procedures and develop skills in software that is used in an office setting.
Medical Office Clerk I 30S | BCOR3S | 1 CREDIT
Medical Office Clerk I is designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills required to function as part of a health care team. It is aimed at preparing students to work in a medical office or health care facility. Students will learn the roles and responsibilities of a Medical Office Clerk, including computer skills with use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, medical terminology, maintaining patient records, billing procedures and keying medical reports.
Note: Students should have good keyboarding skills and reading comprehension. It is recommended that students take Advanced Keyboarding/Print Communications 20S before entering this course.
Medical Office Clerk II | 40S | TTBR4S | 1 CREDIT
Medical Office Clerk II is designed for students who are pursuing work in a medical office setting. In addition to computer skills review, enhanced electronic communications and information management, this course will include transcription of documents which include in-depth medical terminology of the 11 body systems. A 20 hour office practicum is available for most students for work experience.
