At École Sir William Osler, we view art as an essential form of
expression and communication. We strive
to nurture children’s self-expression and their innate ability to be creative.
To us, it is the process of creating art that is most important, and our students' products reflect that process. We teach children techniques to use in their creations. As adults, it is important to genuinely accept and appreciate children's artistic endeavors, without judgment or criticism. This in turn, encourages children to be risk-takers, and their learning increases. When children create a drawing, we say, "Tell me more about your drawing."
Art Education is a priority to us at École Sir William Osler. Classroom teachers have opportunities
throughout the school year to take Professional Development sessions on Art
Education, in order to further our own understandings. We are all learners.
Our students are learning
to talk about art and to interpret art, and we enjoy nurturing their authentic
and creative expression. We hope you
