Sisler High School will host Olesia Stasuik, the General Director of the world`s only Holodomor Victims Memorial, housed in the National Museum in Kyiv, Ukraine.
A one- hour keynote presentation for approximately 200 students of Sisler High School will feature documentaries, memoirs and experiences from General Director Olesia Stasiuk of the Holodomor Victims Memorial National Museum in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Olesia Stasiuk is the author of the book “Genocide of Ukrainian people: cultural deformation” (Kyiv, 2006, 334 pgs.) and many other research articles about the Holodomor and Genocide of Ukrainians. More than 10 exhibitions were based on her work including “Broken destinies: terror of communism in Ukraine during 1920s-1950s”; “Repression of clergymen: destroying churches and Ukrainian tradition by communist regime” and “Destroyed by hunger: unknown Genocide of Ukrainian people”. Her work was presented at the European Parliament, Brussels; the White House, Washington; The Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dusseldorf; The United Nations Office at Geneva and close to 50 Ukrainian foreign offices abroad.
Ms. Stasiuk took part in many foreign conferences and round tables on Genocide-Holodomor (Germany, Ireland, Poland, USA, Ukraine).
She was awarded the James Mace prize in 2003 and the “Cross of Valour, II level” in 2009 for her campaign to teach the Ukrainian diaspora and the world about Genocide-Holodomor in Ukraine.
Students will hear discussion on how the museum in Kyiv contributes to the public education about genocide which helps to increase the level of understanding about the role and value of the Holodomor Genocide Museum.
