Students Explore History Through Holodomor Mobile Classroom
On Oct 18th 2016, Sisler High School had the priviledge of exploring history through the Holodomor Mobile Classroom. The HMC is housed in a 12-meter long bus with extensive multimedia capabilities including a theatre with seating for more than 30 students.
Prior to hosting in the Holodomor Mobile Classroom, Sisler history teacher Orysya Petryshyn educated students on the historical background of various genocides. Four classes participated during the HMC's visit, and learned about the horrendous genocide brought about by deliberate famine in 1932-33.
Through presentations and interactive media, students explored primary documents related to the Holodomor genocide.
As part of their experience, students had to role-play historically-accurate roles related to the genocide.
