Back to School 2023-2024 News

August 28, 2023

Good Morning Gladstone Families,

We hope that this email finds you all well and that you have had an enjoyable summer.  Just a few updates as we approach the first day of school...

Principal:  I will be at the school as Principal until September 12, 2023.  The process for securing the new Principal has started.  On September 5th, Superintendent Celia Caetano-Gomes will be at the school to meet with staff and with parents/guardians.  Our first Parent Council Meeting then, will be on Tuesday, September 5th at 4:00 pm in the Library, for any parents/guardians who would like to meet with Mrs. Caetano-Gomes to share some thoughts about the new Principal for Gladstone.  If you plan to attend, please send me an email to confirm your attendance (twarner@wsd1.org)

First Day:  The first day of school for grades 1 - 6 is on Wednesday, Sept. 6.  Staff will be outside to meet students starting at 8:45am. Dismissal is at 3:30 (students will be brought outside).  The first day for Nursery and Kindergarten students is on Monday, September 11, either from 9:00-11:30 or 1:00-3:30 depending on whether your child is in morning or afternoon class. If you are new to Gladstone Nursery or Kindergarten, please anticipate a phone call this week to set up a meeting and visit to the classroom during the first week of September,

School Day: Grades 1 - 6:  9:00 am-3:30 pm. Staff is on duty to supervise at 8:45 am. Students should not arrive to school before this time. Nursery/Kindergarten: Morning class is 9:00-11:30 and the afternoon class is 1:00-3:30.

Class Lists: If you have any questions about your child's classroom for this school year, please call the school after Wednesday, August 30.  We will also have staff on hand on the first day back to assist you.

School Supplies: Teachers collect school supply fees from each family, which allows them to purchase specific materials in bulk.  The fee for students in grade 1 -6 is $40.00 and the supply fee for students in Nursery/Kindergarten is $25.00. New Nursery/Kindergarten parents, please bring your school supply fees to your meeting.

Lunch Program: We have a lunch program that is available for students, for parents/guardians who are working and/or attending school. If you are not working or going to school, your child will be placed on a wait list.  Students attending day care will eat at daycare and be supervised by daycare staff.

Meet the Teacher: This date has been changed from Tuesday, September 5th to Thursday, Sept. 21. Stay tuned for more details.
