Administrator's Message

Thank-you for visiting Lord Nelson School's website! Our "One Big Family" is made up of approximately 400 eager, respectful learners and 47 staff members. Our school services students from Nursery to Grade 6.

 

We are dedicated to ensuring success for all learners through differentiated instruction and inclusion. Students master key concepts for all disciplines and learn at their own rate. We have a strong technology component in our school and staff are working hard at using technology in their everyday teaching. A school-wide anti-bullying program and PBIS training are implemented in all classrooms and common areas, along with virtue teaching that focus on respect, empathy, self-control and conscience. The Seven Teachings of the Sacred People are also a monthly focus where students will learn about courage, humility, honesty, respect, love, truth and wisdom. Together we work hard at creating an environment that fosters respect and responsibility, self-growth and lifelong learning.

 

We have a wonderful group of parents who make up our Parent Association. They work hand-in-hand with our school staff too create a learning and caring partnership. We have a Parent Centre that serves as a way to connect our valuable family members to our school. It runs many programs that support early literacy and numeracy, helps new Canadian families access resources, provides knowledge and experience for parents, empowers girls through various activities or initiatives. We always welcome our families into the school and encourage participation in the life of our school.
