Hello families!

My name is Ms. Kalsi and I am excited to be your child’s classroom teacher. In our classroom, we focus on creating a safe, caring, and engaging environment where students feel valued and motivated to learn. 

Grade 1/2 is a special year because students have the opportunity to learn alongside peers of different ages. Grade 1 students benefit from the guidance of their Grade 2 classmates, while Grade 2 students strengthen their skills as role models and leaders. Together, we build a strong classroom community based on respect, responsibility, and kindness. 

In our class, learning is hands-on, creative, and connected to the real world. We explore literacy and numeracy every day, dive into science and social studies through inquiry and projects, and express our creativity through art, music, and storytelling. We also place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning, helping students develop confidence, empathy, and independence. 

My goals for this year are to: 

• Inspire a love of reading, writing, and problem-solving. 
• Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. 
• Support each student’s individual growth while celebrating their successes. 
• Build positive relationships between home and school so that we can work together to support your child.
