CHURCHILL TRIP

Once again the grade 2s boarded the 'train' and headed off to Churchill, Manitoba. Of course, it was using a bit of imagination and some visuals, but students had a great day of learning and fun during their visit. After disembarking from the 'train', students visited several stations to further explore Churchill. Students got to build an Inukshuk, explore the 'museum', make a clay dome, and taste some delicious bannock, among others. It definitely looks like everyone had an amazing day!

DIWALI DAYS

Students in grade 2 were super excited to learn about Diwali and the traditions and meaning behind the holiday, that many of our Tyndall Park School families celebrate. Thanks to EAs Ms. Sidhu and Ms. Palhan, for sharing their culture and traditions with the students. The 'Festival of Lights' is celebrated with fireworks, sweets and families. Students got to learn about diyas (lamps), the type of clothing that might be worn during the holiday, and even got to try their hand at creating 'Rangoli art'!

WINTER RECESS ROOM

We have been lucky to be able to have the space to create a room that will get us through those cold winter recesses when we are stuck indoors and still keep students engaged and active. The room is filled with various stations for students to participate in such as a 'Makerspace' area, a 'Yoga Studio', a 'Science Explorer' area, a 'Lego' station, a 'Crafting' station and a 'Games' table to name a few! The students have tested the room out and agree it is a lot of fun.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN INVESTIGATION

The Grade 2 students have been having a lot of great, gooey fun while investigating pumpkins. What's inside the pumpkin and how does a pumpkin grow? How many centimeters is a pumpkin's circumference and how much can it weigh? Ask your child the answers for these questions and more as they explore pumpkins!

OAK HAMMOCK MARSH FIELD TRIP

The grade 2 classrooms along with room 12 had a fun-filled day at Oak Hammock Marsh on June 23rd. Some of the activities included Marsh Bingo, and Critter Dipping. The weather was beautiful and students had a great time doing a marsh walk and checking out the wetlands and learning about the animals and insects that make it their home. Many thanks to the staff at Oak Hammock Marsh for taking the time to spend with our students and showing them around the marsh.

DRAGON EYES

Ever wonder what a Dragon's eyes might look like? Well, students in grade two created their own dragon eyes out of plasticine and the results were amazing! After reading the story, 'Me and My Dragon', they wrote stories about what they would do with their own dragon and what they would look like. Check out these fantastical creations!
