Current Students
- Students staying at the same school do not need to re-register.
- Students moving to their designated Middle or Senior Years catchment school will be pre-registered based on their address.
- Students transferring to a new school for French Immersion or division-wide programs must complete a student intention form provided by their current school. Students will then be pre-registered.
New Student Registration
Confirm your designated catchment school using Find A School App.
Find Early, Middle or Senior Years schools, and division-wide programs.
For extra assistance, families may register in person at their catchment school office.
Students who are 18 years of age or older can register without an adult.

When registering online, families must upload copies of required documents. When registering in person, original documents will be photocopied and returned right away.

Attending designated catchment schools
Attending a designated catchment school is beneficial because:
- Students can walk or bike to school with neighbourhood peers.
- Smaller class sizes support better learning.
- All Winnipeg School Division schools can offer strong, balanced programs.
- It helps manage costs and resources.
- School funding is based on catchment enrolment.
Student transportation
Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 who attend their designated catchment school and live more than 1.6 km away are eligible for transportation. Nursery students attending French Milieu schools, or Niji Mahkwa and Isaac Brock (for Indigenous language programs only) are also eligible if they live more than 1.6 km away. Transportation must be requested through the school after the student is registered. Transportation is not available for Grade 7 and higher students.
Registering a student new to Canada
Families may request a free interpreter through Winnipeg School Division’s Newcomer Services to support the registration process. For additional support, contact the International Education Program office, including for families on visitor visas, study permits, or work permits.
Schools of Choice
Students must be enrolled in their designated catchment school before applying to Schools of Choice. Applications are reviewed by the division’s Superintendents’ Department and do not guarantee placement. Applications may be declined due to capacity limits.
For the 2026/27 school year, Winnipeg School Division is not accepting Schools of Choice applications for the following schools (exceptions may be considered for special family circumstances):
- École Secondaire Sisler High School
- École Secondaire Kelvin High School
- École River Heights School
- École Lansdowne School
- École Waterford Springs School
- Brock Corydon School (English program)
- Fort Rouge School
Non-resident students
Students living outside of division boundaries must complete a new student registration form before completing the Schools of Choice application.
Schools of Choice application review
Schools of Choice applications are reviewed by the Superintendents’ Department and are subject to space and staffing availability. Applying does not guarantee enrolment. Under provincial guidelines, priority is given to catchment area students, then within-division students, followed by non-resident students. Families will be contacted by the Superintendents' Department with the enrolment decision once the application is reviewed.
