Volunteering at Laura Secord

Opportunities for parents and guardians to volunteer at École Laura Secord School will be available throughout the year. In order to volunteer in any activity with students, parents and guardians must complete the Volunteer Registration Form, the Child Abuse Registry Check, have completed the Respect in School Program, and have completed the Accessibility For Manitobans Act training. Respect in School Video Link
As of May 2022, the Department of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning requires all school volunteers in Manitoba to complete the Respect in School online training program. Please click on the link below to access the online training program:

Once you open the link, please click on New to this program? - Click here to register now. A new window will open that asks if you have taken one of the listed programs. If you have taken past training with Respect Group, please click on EXISTING USER. If you have not taken one of the listed programs, please click on NEW USER. Once you have made your selection, please follow the prompts to complete registration and begin the Respect in School online training program. After you complete the Respect in School program, please email your Certificate of Completion to las@wsd1.org or fax it to 204-783-7607.

In addition, the Provincial Government has made it mandatory for all organizations serving the public to train all staff, volunteers, etc., as part of the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA). Once you have viewed the AMA training video, please complete the declaration portion of the Google Form and click submit. Please click on "Fill Out Form" to complete the required trainings.

NOTE: This training must be completed before you can participate in any volunteer opportunities offered by our schools.
If a parent or guardian wishes to volunteer with students in coaching, intramural sports, or any other athletic activity, they will also require a certificate from the Respect in Sport program.
