Full-Day Kindergarten

New for 2026-2027 School Year!

As part of the 2026/2027 Budget discussions, the Board of Trustees provided direction that a full day Kindergarten program be established in six schools. The full day Kindergarten Program will identify any gaps in academic performance at an early age by providing an enriched environment where students’ overall social, emotional, cognitive and physical development will be assessed and monitored to assist your child in being school ready for the transition to Grade 1.

The schools were identified by available space for the program and the ability to provide a full day Kindergarten program with no additional costs. Effective the 2026/2027 school year, Rockwood School will offer families a full day Kindergarten Program and discontinue the Nursery Program which is not provincially funded by the Province of Manitoba. These children will be advised to register at the Kidspace Daycare being offered at the school. WSD has worked with the Province and the Childcare Program Director to ensure that families will have access to affordable daycare for their 4 year-olds. The younger children will benefit from being in a nurturing environment with a slightly different educational programming model.

Children who will be five years old by December 31 and reside within the Rockwood School catchment are eligible to register for our Kindergarten program.
