Fresh Water Ecology Day 2025
November 6, 2025 Announcement, Conference
On October 2nd, 2025, DMCI’s Chemistry students took part in a Fresh Water Ecology Day workshop at Fort Whyte!
These workshops welcomed students from grades 7 to 12 and invited them to learn and explore different ways to preserve the fresh water around us. This included taking lake samples to test oxygen, phosphorus, ammonia and pH, learning about lake stratification, planting cattails, and so much more!
Students even got to learn about and share tea made from different Indigenous plants thanks to an environmental science student named Daija.
This workshop gave the students an opportunity to learn about preserving water in a sustainable, but fulfilling way. Erna M., a current grade 12 student at DMCI, said, “Many people should take the opportunity to sign up for these workshops because I personally enjoyed learning about the environment and how to protect it.” Another student, Jaimielle T., said, “I learned a lot and I encourage others to sign up for this workshop when the opportunity is available.”
