February 9, 2021

Grade 8 students from Shaughnessy Park were recently invited to the launch of the NorWest Youth Hub.  The event was emceed by Winnipeg celebrity Ace Burpee.  Shaughnessy Park students were able to hear about the programming that would be available to them in this wonderful new facility.

"NorWest Co-op, together with our partners, has been working on a youth mental health initiative for over two years. Our youth advisory committee, the Youth Ambassadors for Mental Health, has been a guiding force for this initiative, the NorWest Youth Hub," said Laura Horodecki, Project Manager, NorWest Co-op Community Health.  "We envision the Youth Hub to become a vibrant, youth-led space in the heart of our community, accessible and meaningful to all youth that walk in the door.

NorWest Co-op Community Health has served the Inkster community northwest Winnipeg since 1972. NorWest is a forerunner in taking multi-service, holistic, team approach to health care. We provide a wide range of health related services including primary care, counseling, education and community outreach, and a community food centre. NorWest is the only non-profit community based health care agency in the Inkster area. NorWest recognizes the effect that life style, access to resources and income have on the health of individuals and families. We work with the community to create safer, healthier, inclusive neighbourhoods for children and families.
