Battery Recycling Program

February 16, 2022
Battery Recycling Program

February 18th is National Battery Day! This recognizes the importance of batteries in our lives but also the importance of their proper disposal.  People, property, and the environment are put at risk when dead batteries are thrown away instead of recycled through proper channels. It is important to keep people and property safe not only on National Battery Day, but every day!

In partnership with call2recycle.ca, Tec-Voc's Fairtrade & Sustainability Committee is excited to relaunch our Battery Recycling Program on Friday, February 18th at Tec-Voc! The Battery Recycling Program was first started by our former colleague Randy Tomchak, and we are honoured to continue his mission.

Staff and students can bring in their used batteries on Friday, February 18th!  Our Fair Trade & Sustainability Committee will be located outside the main office to collect all acceptable batteries.  Let’s fill the battery box! Open those junk drawers and pull out those hidden dead batteries and “Think Green & Act Gold”!
