Weston School Intramurals for the 2023/2024 School Year

When: Intramurals will take place every Monday – Wednesday during lunch hour (12:00pm – 12:55pm) from the end of September to December, then will pick back up in February when our newly renovated gym floors are done! 

Games/Sports (Sport each week will be posted outside the gymnasium on the whiteboard):

  • Dodgeball
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Soccer Baseball
  • Badminton 
  • Floor Hockey
  • Handball

 

Terry Fox Run:

We hosted our Terry Fox Run on Monday September 25th from 11:00am – 11:35am. Our run took place outdoors in the fields of Weston where students ran/walked as many laps as they could to show support for Terry Fox and his vision to raise awareness for cancer research. The week prior during their PE classes students were asked the question, why are we doing this run? We engaged in conversation about Terry Fox and his vision, and watched an educational video about the history of Terry Fox and the Marathon of Hope. Students received Terry Fox stickers, along with some treats to reward them for all their hard work after the run! Please see photos below from our Terry Fox Run:

 

Sports Programs:

Soccer Team: 

  • Details: We are excited to announce this year’s soccer team at Weston School being offered to grades 5 and 6 students! This years Soccer team is being put together by Mr. Fontaine, Ms. Gonzales, and Ms. Eppert.
  • When: Our Soccer team started at the end of September with out first practice being on September 29th! Students on the soccer team will practice every Friday during lunch hour in the gymnasium (12:00pm – 12:55pm).
  • Where: Our Soccer team is enrolled in both the Inner-City Soccer League and Central Division Soccer League. 
  • Inner City Soccer is on going from October – March, with 4-5 games/tournaments being played in that time span. These games will take place at the University of Winnipeg Axworthy Health and RecPlex.
  • Central Division Soccer includes two outdoor soccer tournaments taking place on October 10th and 12th at the Tech Voc field

Volleyball Team: 

  • We are excited to announce that our volleyball team begins on November 16th! Practice are taking place every Thursday at lunch, and we will be having a tournament on December 8th at Sister MacNamara School, our Weston Hawks are looking forward to it!
