Norquay School Lunch Program Registration 2026/27

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to registration for the Norquay School Lunch Program for the 2026-2027 school year.
This program provides adult supervision and lunch for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students who are bused to school or who do not have supervision at home during the lunch hour from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students will be supervised by Educational Assistants as Teaching Staff do not work over the lunch hour.
Junior High students (Grades 7 and 8) are expected to go home for lunch. Students who are bused to Norquay School are automatically enrolled in the Lunch Program. If there are extenuating circumstances for students who do not otherwise qualify for the program, please contact the school administration to discuss available options.
All bused students are automatically registered in the Lunch Program.
Because our program relies on maintaining appropriate staff-to-student supervision ratios, we have a limited number of spaces available. Registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once capacity has been reached, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist.
Meal Information & The Manitoba Universal Nutrition Program
Thanks to the Manitoba Universal Nutrition Program, lunch at Norquay School is provided at no cost to participating families. Please note the following:
- Limited Daily Choices: Lunch options will be limited each day. A weekly lunch menu will be published on the school website at the start of the school year so families can review meal choices in advance.
- Pack a Backup Snack: Because daily meal options are fixed, we strongly encourage families to send an additional snack or side item with their child in case they do not enjoy the meal offered that day.
- Lunch to Go: As part of our commitment to supporting student well-being, nutrition, and food security, and in alignment with the Manitoba Universal Nutrition Program, a Lunch To Go option will be available.
How the Hour is Split:
To give students proper time to recharge, the 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM hour is divided evenly into two parts:
- 30 Minutes for Eating: Students eat their provided lunch safely inside their designated lunchroom area.
- 30 Minutes for Outdoor Movement: Students head outside for a supervised fresh-air break to move around and play. Please ensure clothing is appropriate for daily outdoor recess.
Program Rules & Behavioral Expectations
To maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment, all students participating in the Lunch Program are expected to follow the Lunch Program Code of Conduct (outlined below).
Please Note: We are committed to helping every student be successful in the Lunch Program. Students who consistently follow program expectations help create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. In cases of ongoing behavioural concerns, the school will work closely with families to develop supports and solutions. If concerns persist, a student's participation in the Lunch Program may be reviewed.
Students attending Eagle Wing Day Care will be supervised by Eagle Wing staff at Eagle Wing Day Care during the lunch hour.
To secure your child's place in the program, please review the schedule and Code of Conduct with them, complete the registration form locked in the main office, and return it to the school office as soon as possible.

Norquay School Nutrition Programs
Norquay School is a recipient of Breakfast, Lunch and Snack Program Funding from the Province of Manitoba. In addition to this funding, Norquay School receives a significant amount of funding from the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba, PC Children's Charity - PowerFULL Kids, Second Harvest the Winnipeg School Division and our school sponsor Armize.
All students at Norquay School are welcome to participate in our Breakfast, Snack and Lunch Programming. Families can send additional food to supplement the food we provide.
BREAKFAST is provided from 9:00am - 9:15am in each classroom.
SNACK is provided between 10:30am - 11:00am in each classroom.
LUNCH is provided between 1:00pm and 2pm in each classroom.
There are some changes to our LUNCH PROGRAM for the 2026/2 school year.
- Students will eat lunch in their classroom with their class.
- All students who stay for lunch must be registered for our Lunch Program.
- There are 3 opportunities for children to eat at school every day. Due to the number of students, we are feeding meal choices may be limited...we will supplement any lunch that is sent from home.
