May 20, 2026

universal-nutrition-program-header.0e37d537456.pngThe Universal Nutrition Program at Rockwood School provides free snacks to students. It helps remove barriers to food access so students can learn, grow, and participate fully at school, in accordance with The Public School Act. Students have access to healthy snacks during the school day, at no cost. Families do not need to apply, register, or show proof of financial need to participate.
Food served through the program follows the division's nutrition policy, Canada’s Food Guide, and the Manitoba School Nutrition Guidelines

Rockwood School offers a rotating assortment of snacks such as;
milk & cereal
fresh fruit
yogurt
granola bars
cheese & crackers
hard boiled eggs

Nutrition program in each school

Every school receives funding for nutrition programming, but programs may look different from school to school based on:

  • Student and community needs
  • Kitchen and food preparation facilities
  • Staffing capacity

Food is available for students during the school day only. It does not support food for extracurricular activities, staff, families, and the community.

Families are encouraged to contact their school directly with questions and feedback about participation.
